Im just starting up weights and exercise again after a long break, and am wondering how important supplements are, i have never used them before and was previously in pretty good shape. So I was just wondering how much difference you will see through using supplements? Will it make the gains much more? Will there be more bulk? Will gains be made faster?
I realise that it would differ from person to person, but just wondering how important everyone sees them to be

IMO, supplements make very little differance. There are a lot of people that still swear by them. The only one I'm really still hanging onto is whey.....and I'm not even sure if I'm gonna keep taking it when I run out. I'm starting to believe more and more, that for me to just workout, meaning not in competition, all I need to do is eat right, work out hard and get my rest. I know it'll be cheaper. I'll be out of whey soon, so we'll see. I won't be surprised if my results aren't the same.

Said this many times over, 95% of what we do is diet, rest and exercising the muscle correctly. Maybe, and only maybe, 5% can be attributed to supplements. And this is when you have long ago maxed out your diet and genetic potential.

So many folks get sucked up in the supplement hype, and start taking that stuff very early on, then swear that this creatine or this protien made them grow 2 inches, when after all it was just their normal newbie and/or increased good diet and training that actually did it. But they are then sold, and cannot ever do without it again. This is what the supplement thrive on.
