I have read many different articles on how much protein a person should consume and have come up with two different views. One article says approx. 1 gram of protein per pound of body weight and another says 1 gram of protein per 1 kilo of body weight. Which is correct??? The dietician I work with says one gram per kilo. Somebody please enlighten me.

For general fitness maintenance, the minimum intake is 1g per pound of bodyweight, i.e., if you weigh 150 lbs, get 150g of protein per day.

I have even heard of as much as 2.2grams per kilogram of bodyweight. I suppose it comes down to what you think will work for you.

Quoting from dnewlin:

If my math is right, I think that works out to be the same, since 2.2 lbs = 1kg. But along the same topic line, I've gone as high (and higher) as at least 2g of protein per pound of bodyweight.
