I have been exercising with weights for just a couple of weeks now. Very excited with the results so far. What kind of weight should I be shooting for as in bicep & tricep lifts? I keep reading lift heavy but just what is heavy for that muscle group?
Thanks

Nancy,
There is no weight that works for everyone, since everyone has different strength levels. The idea is to do weight that is right for YOU.
Depending on your goal, you should be shooting for weight that you can do 3 sets of 10-12 repetitions with. The first set shouldn't be too tough, but on the second and third set, you should need to struggle to get those last few reps out.
If your goal isn't to build size, then I would up that same recommendation to 15 reps p/set, and make sure you are keeping your heart rate up between sets by doing other, non-related movements. Don't get so tired that you can't focus on your sets, though.

Thanks Aaron. What I was really trying to get at was what is average for women who are lifting? Guess I'll post it in female.
