I do cardio almost every day for around 20 min. I eat correctly and I do almost 500 crunches each day, with a workout routine that varies each day. Why can I not get this chisle effect? |

first off what is your body fat % then you should be able to know how much you need to get those abs because about 6-9 % body fat is verry lean and therfore you will be able to see you abs eassier.-------------- Get Rugged |

My body fat is 7%, but for some reason I can't get rid of that extra layer of fat on my abs no matter what I do, could it be because of the foods I eat? I do eat cereal for breakfast, around 2 servings, should I change this meal into egg whites and toast? |

It may not be fat around your abs if you are at 7% bf and you know this. Your abs should be showing well. I think your problem may stem from the type of ab workout you are doing. To have that coveted six pack showing, you need to "work" the abs! Crunches will not do this. They will of course help you have a "flat" stomach, but not the chiseled look. Abs are a muscle, thus need to be trained with resistance and rested to grow like any other muscle. Twice per week with heavy weight like weighted crunches( 4sets), and weighted leg raises ( sets), and rest them the rest of the time, and watch what happens if your bodyfat is really that low. Hope this helps...good luck-------------- The one goal you will NEVER achieve is the one you never attempt. |

bb1fit hit the nail on the head. if you want a six pack you have to use weights for your ab routine. try to not work the abs more than 3 days a week. the exercises we do a lot of the time are indirectly working the abs because, along with the back, they stabilize our body. |

Doing 500 crunches a day is over training your abs. Abs are just like any other muscle in your body, they also need time to recover. Add resistance and only work them out 3 days a week max. At 7% body fat you will definetly see changes. Good Luck!!!

First thing is stop thinking that ab training will remove fat around your midsection. You must train your whole body.
Then, search for this topic, its been discussed. Anyone else think we need one good ab thread, sort of as a reference post? -------------- Pain is only temporary, it is in your mind. it would be nice to have one all-encompassing ab thread, but its not like these new people would use it anyways

Yep - but if we have a sticky, all we have to do is paste the link or tell them where it's at. At least that way the info is there for them to use.-------------- Mike in Pensacola Now. |

I have been working out four days a week for nearly six months, doing about 30 minutes circuit training with another 30 of interval training and including some abdominal workouts, but nothing seems to be moving my extra tyre round my stomach? my body fat is 11% any suggestions?

you know whats weird, I just came across this post I did 6 years ago, and what I wouldn't give to have a flat stomach again and only weigh around 190. I am now 265 and can't figure out how to get back there. Anyone want to give me some support? I work long long long hours and dont have the strength and desire anymore to work out like I used to.

i seriously cant remember how I lost all of my weight and my habits to do it. Once I got into pharmacy school and started working 80 hour weeks, I didnt have the strength or focus to go to the gym like I used to and I have lost all interest. Some great motivational things would really help if you have any inspiration for me. I am set in this world with my job and everything, just need to get myself back....

***80 hours a week?*** Well, it sounds like your plate is full. I would suggest a few things. Walk stairs instead of elevator. Park your car as far away as possible to be safe and get that walking in to. Pack your lunch so your not tempted to stop and get the quick foods. Put healthy snacks in the car to quench that hunger while your driving. Get a bottle to keep water in all the time and drink it. While your in class you can do simple exercised like calf and inner thigh work outs without any weights. If you carry books do it with one arm and alternate using them as weights while you walk. There really are a lot of things you can do even if you don't think you have the time. Just be creative and do it because you want to, not because you have to.
Smiles, I do hope I have helped. |
