I have a friend that is extremely skinny (by nature) (must be nice) and wants to add some weight. She has her fitness program form FT, I ijust need to know what supplements are best for her goals (adding about 10-15 pounds). Her husband just went to IRAQ and she has about 5 months to transform her body. She wants to do the extreme makeover and has asked me some fitness questions. I know a lot on how to lose weight and add muscle but adding is a whole other level. PLEASE HELP ME SO I CAN HELP HER.

Weight gainers could work, if not achieved through consuming more calories.

The most effective thing you can do for her is to tell her to stop looking toward supplements. A caloric increase will make her reach her goals. True, you could use a commercial weight gainer, but many of them are simply filled with sugars and fillers to make more calories. Adding clean whole nutritious food to her diet will give her the results she is after. Maintenance is imparitive to know. At this point, simply start by increasing caloric intake by 300 calories per day. Stay at this amount till the gaining stops, then adjust again. The slower she gains and the cleaner her calories, the less fat she will accumulate. Make sure she is getting adequate protein intake, and a good solid WO program like FT and she will gain nice weight in this manner. Don't try to rush it too much by pouring in too many calories, as you may be happy with the scale, but if it is too fast as much as 1/2 of it or more can be unwanted weight(adipose tissue). Good luck to her.

First, thank you for the responses. She has tried to up her calorie intake, but her metobolism is extremely high. What weight gainers are good for women (not adding hair to the chest or anything else crazy).

If she has tried to up her calorie intake with no results, she did not up them enough. There is no such thing as a hard gainer or someone with too fast a metabolism so they can't gain, there is just folks who don't have their diets down for their needs. Tell her to keep increasing her calories till a gain starts. She was somewhat below her maintenance when she raised them. As I have said, food is her best bet. Commercial weight gainers for the most part are crappy. To make a good homemade weight gainer, blend oats, natural peanut butter, protein, cottage cheese, fruit, and blend together. This will give a very calorically dense shake that you know what is in it. I like to add heavy cream for even more calories, not to mention the taste.
