Hello,

I used to work out quite a bit a couple of years ago. I just started again last week. I’m trying to work on my strength and flexibility. I always stretch before and after every set. I also stretch before bed.

Two days ago I worked my back. Everything was good except when I was doing my pre-sleep stretches last night. I was stretching my lats by holding on to a chair while pulling a way from it. I did it a few times and it felt good. I went to do it one last time and 7 seconds into the stretch I felt something slowly moving in my right lat. 1 to 2 seconds after that, I felt something move very fast. It felt like my lat had popped. It was more discomforting than painful. Has this happened to anyone else? If so, was it a strain/pull? Could it have simply been my muscle rubbing against my rib cage and because it was sore form the workout it felt funny?

My right lat (the one that feels weird) is little more tender today than the any other part of my body I worked. It also seems more swollen then my left. Could this be an indication of a stain/pull?

Any feedback is greatly appreciated.

Maybe you irritated the underlying bursa or something. Try icing the area and if it doesn't get better see a doc.
Could be you pulled a rib out of place, I don't know, I would have to see it, that is the problem with injuries, you can't really evaluate them online...
