Hello Everyone, just would like to introduce myself as this is my first post. I am 46 and have lost 20 lbs since March. Thanks to Weight Watchers. I am now at my goal weight. I also have quit smoking in January. I had arthroscopic surgery done in my right knee 14 days ago and the doc said to build up the muscle. I walk anywhere from 2 to 3 miles 5 days a week but it doesn't seem to be helping . Any advice. P:S knee is still pretty sore. :(
Welcome aboard jennifer! Keep up your walking to help keep your knees limber while you recover. Check out some of the exercise programs here on FT and read some of the post regarding nutrition. I too lost weight with ww, and now follow much of the advice here on FT. I eat a lot more protien than I used to along with good complex carbs and healthy fats. Don't push yourself too quickly especially if your knee still hurts. As I'm sure you know, loosing weight and getting fit do not happen overnight. Try and find some cardio that doesn't hurt your knee...swimming comes to mind. Add in some wt training focusing on upper body along with some "gentle" leg work. Check out the exercise glossery for lots of great ideas.
Good Luck!
-------------- Even if you are on the right track, you will get run over if you just sit there.
Ahhhh 14 days after surgery. You should be training for an Ironman by now. :) kidding, totally kidding btw....
I'm with FOTW. just listen to your body. It will tell you if you are overdoing it. welcome to the forum.
