Hi all. I am 35, female, overweight (40 lb over)
I have been doing 10 lbs weights (arms only), 3 sets of 15, basic routines, just biceps curls & flies, not triceps. I am brand new to weight lifting and no very little; HOWEVER, I can't believe it: I can see big muscles after three weeks!! I am worried they are too big now. Is 10 too much weight? Should I do 8 lb weights? I have to say, I don't want big arms but I didn't know weight lifting showed so fast. ANY ADVICE WOULD BE GREAT. Should I be worried about getting bulky 'cause I am... Thanks.

If you lose the fat that is covering those muscles you'll most likely find that your muscles aren't so big after all. I use 30 lb. dumbbells to do biceps curls and I only have 11" arms. I wouldn't worry about getting bulky until you've lost the fat that is most likely what is making you look bulky. If you add a little bit of muscle size under a layer of existing fat you are naturally going to look bigger...until the fat goes away. Since muscle pound for pound takes up less room than fat, you will probably look smaller in the end.
