I feel like I'm the only person trying to gain muscle...it's so sad and I'm thinking of stopping...I think I'm gaining fat and I don't know if I'm making muscle or not. Please support me with some advice and motivation...I think what I really need is a training partner. I don't even have friends who are interested in doing what I'm trying to do so that's another thing that is keeping me from staying focused. Another thing is the food. I feel like a fat pig when I eat so much and I only want to gain muscle not fat! I think that I screwed up my metabolism losing weight so anybody have any ideas of how to get it back up and running again.

None of my friends at home train at all!
It is my FT friends who I get my advice and motivation from. Your metabolism should get back on track quite quickly - the best things to do are keep weight training, and make sure you are eating enough. As for focusing- I think the best thing to do is write down your goals, and log your progress as you go Hope this helps:) |

I have been back in the gym for about 2 months now. I am just seeing some results. I spent 2 wks just getting used to the weights again. I have spent the last 6 wks on a serious workout 3 way split. I have also spent the last 2 months getting my diet back on track. These things take time and sometimes you have to adjust your workout. I had to cut my cardio because I was burning too many calories. Just check your measurements once a month. Don't worry about the scale. Just worry about the tape measure. If your chest and arms are getting larger, and your belly is getting smaller, you are doing good. One of my arms actually got smaller this month, but they are more solid. Less jello in the chest too. Another thing to look for is if you start getting hungry every three hours. If you are then your metabolism is getting better. stick with it, and you will see results. |

DX14AG - Don't worry about your friends. You know what you want so go for it. There are many people on this board that want to gain muscle and lose fat. I am one of them. Anything is possible with hard work. Keep to your goals and soon you will be the envy of your friends.

Well I know that I'm not the only one doing this, but I just wish that there was some friends of mine that were interested in doing the things that I want to do. The reason I say this is because my friends are mostly all overweight and they make fun of me for bringing tuna and stuff to school and everything...it gets very annoying.

I hear ya DX14AG I train by myself as well and wish I had friends that were into working out and eating healthy just like me. I just moved away from all my friends and family and i've only been in cali for about 3 months and haven't met anybody into working out but i know eventually I will meet someone just takes time like everything else in life. After your done gaining you'll go onto a cutting cycle and loose that fat and reveal the muscle underneath now that it is a great feeling seeing all that hard work pay off. Just keep with it. I've thought about quitting too but, I don't think i could it is who i am. Good luck and don't give up/

Thanks for understanding what I'm going through guys, I have only been lifting for 2 months, and I know that it's not a whole lot of time, but I have also been dieting for about 4 months. I lost 60 pounds all by myself...I'll take that back, with the help of God, and nobody else and my family is eating unhealthy foods that I crave and everything, and the temptations are enormous! But I know I have to just eat right, eat a lot, and lift weights and eventually I will see gains...I know it's not going to come over night. Also, I couldn't give up either Justin. It's who I am also. What the hell would I do after school? just eat junk food? haha naw I can't do that anymore...it's just not who i am...

60 pounds? that's excellent :)
I suspect the reason your friends make fun of your diet is because they are more than a little jealous. After a while of eating clean, you will find that your cravings for unhealthy food lessen - your taste adjusts, and the temptation diminishes. |

You keep working...you'll see in the end how much better you feel mentality and physically. Training partners are okay for some but honestly its the self disipline that takes you where you ultimately want to be. I give you a high five for the decision youve made to get healthy. Keep us posted and put your pic online so we can see the progress. Join a gym if you havent the people around you will become your partners just being there motivates us all. If not there are running trails/parks etc where people are doing the same thing you're doing. Staying healthy :) Good luck

Thanks a whole lot guys, it's true, you do lose all the cravings. I don't know how to get the pics on the site, and I don't know how to make a profile but I have some great news, my bodyfat % went down 7%. It's been about 2 months since the last time I checked, and yesterday I went to gold's gym (which is the gym that I go to) and it was 15.9%. I think I am doing good. :) I just want to thank you all for backing me up on this...I feel much better now.
