I’m back, dammit!
Things did get pretty scary for a while: blackouts, hallucinations, etc. What really concerns me is that I hadn’t changed a thing – not diet, or anything. Yet these episodes would hit me with no warning, and with no rhyme or reason. For example, one afternoon while I was at home, less than an hour after eating, my ringing telephone woke me up while I was on the couch (I have no memory of how I got there!). It was a friend of mine wondering how I was feeling. I told her that things were great, and that my sister had stopped by to check up on me. When I sat up on the couch, I noticed my sis was gone, and I told my friend that she must have left when I fell asleep. The problem? My sister was never there! :surprised: We have no idea why my blood sugars were freaking out, ranging from 35 one hour to 200 the next (normal range is 80-120)!! My red blood cell count was a little low, but nothing to warrant injections, just more beef. So, after my sugars leveled off for more than 24 hours, we worked on re-regulating my diet: for the last week, I about zeroed out my high GIs (not that I eat that many to begin with) unless I start to crash; my low GIs are almost all in the morning, with a few throughout the day to keep things steady; lots of protein (no change there); and a TON fats – different nuts, olive oil, peanut butter, cheese, etc., throughout the day. I thought I used to eat a lot of fat before, but DAMN! This seems be working pretty well. Haven’t had an episode in almost a week. Going in for more blood work next week to see how things are progressing, if anything has changed, and see if I can start cutting back the fat intake. I’ve been bustin’ my butt at work playing catch up since I had to take so much time off; even my taxes are late. And you guys are going to have to catch me up on the going-on’s here at FTs for the last few weeks. :) I’m gonna try to get to the gym tonight just to get a little exercise in since it’s been 3 weeks since I’ve been there - see what happens… You guys have been too damn nice to me; I really do appreciate your caring and your remarks. But be careful – you may soften me up a bit! -------------- Michael Trample the weak; hurdle the dead! Chaos, Panic, Disorder.... Yes, my work here is done! rev8ball@freetrainers.com |

Welcome back, rev!!!!! I am so happy to hear you are better. Now - stay that way!
It is odd how eating a lot of fat can be beneficial, but I would bet you wil actually get leaner, just watch. Yay! You're better! Yay! You're back! Now - get hard ass on us all, would you? -------------- If you fall down seven times, get up eight. |
