I want to loose about 15-20lbs. I'm 5'6 and weight 140lbs right now.

I signed up for the programs and I have a few problems because the machine they are saying i should use is Machine Incline Presses and I'm a beginner, should I really go straight for that?

My other question is, I picked 3 days to start. And since i want to loose weight, how come there is no cardio?

Below is the work out exercise set up. I'm not sure how these will make me loose weight. It sounds like it will make me bigger, no?

chest - shoulders - triceps
back - biceps - forearms
legs - calves

Also, is there any tips on the stretches I should do? And for how long before I actually start working out?

Please help!! :( Thanks

You'll notice that somewhere on the workout page ft suggests that you do about 25 mins. of cardio per day. As far as the stretching goes, the professional version has a bunch of stretches relevant to the exercises you'll be doing. If you're not ready to become a professional (paying) member of FT you can check out this free site, it has stretches for every muscle group.

Weight training can be used both to make you big and to make you lose weight depending on how you go about completing your workout routine. Usually, if your goal is to lose weight or tone, you would be doing a high amount of reps with a relatively light weights whereas if you want to build mass you'd want to use heavy weight and keep the reps short.

If you have any health condititons it's probably best to check with your doc, but other than that...you can start *today* :) (or were you asking about how long to stretch before working out?).

The machines are pretty easy to use, so you shouldn't have too many problems - or ask someone at the gym. Most of the time people are pretty willing to help. If you're really new to strength training, might be a good idea to keep the weight pretty light this week - just to get your body used to the movements.

Welcome to FT and the wonderful world of working out :)
