hi , ive been weightlifting and running track for like 3 months now after a long break from football and spring training is just around the corner, I ve gotten alot stronger in all areas but we rarely seem to do shoulder work, has anyone read mens health magazine they say you can get big arms in 3 weeks well i feel like im in great shape and readiness, i was just wondering if anyone had any ideas for a shoulder routine which would last for about 2-3 days a week for the next 3 weeks??????? or what i could do to increase my vertical jump, (jump with a light dumbell in one arm?)????????

try doing lateral raises, fron dumbell raises, machine pullovers, See how they work.

Do you have access to medicine balls? Yiou can do plyometric jump squats with a medicine ball and improve your vertical. you could also jump up onto a box.
Overhead dumb bell presses with hte dumbbells just in front of your shoulder are a good compound shoulder exercise. Don't they have a shoulder program on this site? i haven't checked.
Good luck.
There is an awesome book called strength, speed, and power that tells you how to improve sports specific things like your vertical jump, if you want more specific info on it i will look it up.

Speaking from experience, the shoulders can be very easily overtrained, so be careful. Many people who are trying to put mass on their shoulders will try training them like they would legs and back. Remember, the weight is being lifted by 3 small muscles (if you're doing the lifts correctly with good form and not cheating) and are not a large muscle group.

For your vertical leap check out this site:

I used the primus research one and it helped a lot.

Please, take Rev's advice on NOT OVERWORKING THE SHOULDER MUSCLES. I'm paying that price right now and it's not only painful but, it's a significant setback to my program. It's amazing how much those shoulders play a role in chest exercises, etc. Be careful.
Good luck
