Surgery. I had surgery done on my right humorous, ever since then my arm has been giving me pain. I went to the doctor, and they said that it was probably because i havent been working it out and getting the muscle into shape - which is true.

I had a benine bone growth on my arm called an astreo-condroma (sp?) which is basically like having a golf ball fabricated into your bone. The hole from where they cut it off of the bone is sealing, slowly but surely.

I've been thinking for some time now about starting a work out plan; jogging, dieting, some lifting, crunches, push-ups and whatever else there is. I used to be in really good shape, but in my recent years i have taken up smoking (both), drinking and laziness. My goal is to tone up, get a good amount extra muscle and find a habit that is progressive and becomes fun to work with and may it not be cumbersome.

On top of it all, I am fixing to become a chef - FOOD; i like to eat a good amount of food. My mom and my sister and my cousin and my aunt are all doing the ATkins diet, which sounds like a good idea, considering that they have lost a lot of weight from the whole ordeal. I'm guessing that if i were to do it, i'd only last a few days. I like to eat, it doesnt really matter what it is, just as long as it tastes fresh. perhaps eating more things from the soil will give me more energy. As it is, I don't really care for sugar (as in Diet soda compared to standard). I've been browsing the web and it seems as though i cant find any food charts. such as "9 am - two eggs" or something like that you know, and a water chart that says "by 2 p.m. you should have drink x litres of water and have done 30 sit ups, by 12am you should run 1.2 mile" and maybe even "every 3 weeks add .5 to your running distance and eat x amount more and do 40 sit ups by 1 p.m." - i get really confused with diets and health, basically because it is really hard to find a plan to tailor to with all of the information that is required. sigh - somebody help me help myself. oh yeah i'm frugle too, so no weight trainers for me. I'm the kind of person that always had a Gym teacher to tell me what to do with my body.

Cheerio, beezy

Welcome to FT!

I thnk we all love food! It is healthy to eat a wide variety of fresh foods.

Start in the nutrition forum , read grocery list for a bodybuilder. It is an excellent list of foods to create a healthy eating plan.

You want to eat 5-6 small, balanced meals a day - some lean protein, vegetables and good fat. Whole grains like oatmeal and brown rice are good, also. As is a good whole grain bread.

Start your exercise program one day at a time. Start by setting a daily exercise goal (I wil walk 20 minutes).
Pick one of the programs here at freetrainers for beginners.
It takes time to make lifestyle changes and create new habits, but many of us started out similar to you. You will find many ex-smokers, ex-drinkers, ex-lazies here (I am still pretty lazy:)).

Good luck - look for interesting posts to motivate and inform you and ask questions, everyone ere is helpful and supportive! Enjoy the process!
