I knew we were going to be tight on money until I get paid on Friday, but when I got online this morning to check our bank account, I realized that it's gonna be about $85 short to cover the 2 bills I wrote checks for on Friday and Monday.
Anyone know if it would do any good to call my credit union and let them know that I realized the amount in our account is too small, but that a check will be deposited and see if they can hold running the checks through until then?? I just hate those overdraft fees!!

it might - depends on the bank - mine will cover up to $300 but charge 20 when they do it

Yeah, our credit union will cover us up to $500(they had to do it once last year when my hubs was on unemployment)but there is a $25 overdraft charge. I just know what a knock it is to your credit score, and I would love to avoid it if I can. I should have been paying more attention.

You may want to call who you wrote the cheques out to. Tell them to hold off until what ever date you tell them. Sometimes it works and they comply. Better than having it in your record and saves the charges. Or put a stop payment.

I thought that too...but I would bet they have already sent them...it's worth a shot though...and it may be cheaper in the end to put a stop payment...unless it's going to make you accrue late charges as well.I would bet if you let everyody know what is going on though..it will work out in the end.Good Luck cristal!!!

Kc you are probably right...one of the due dates was Monday, so even though it doesn't show as having cleared the bank yet, they have probably already tried, or it will go through tomorrow. I guess I'll just have to take the $25 hit for them to cover it, and be more careful this next month. It's frustrating though ya know? I had this dream that we were gonna be able to get 2 bills paid off completely before Paul gets here so things would be a little easier, but that just doesn't look like it's going to happen. Sorry to rant, I'm just stressed out.......

I know,it's so hard...when we were pregnant with our first we were SO poor!!!!!My husband was a little E-3 in the Navy,we weren't married yet so there was no dependant pay...and I was in a high risk pregnancy(so the drs thought...turned out not to be)so I was on bed rest most of the time.We had a lovely apartment..I had used all of my savings to furnish it before I found out I was pregnant...but we were FLAT broke...our treat every two weeks was to share an icecream cone...we had 3.45 cents left over evey payday after all the bills were paid.We had no cable so we played alot of scrabble and boggle...and we got to be very close...and now we laugh about those times. It's always a struggle with the new babies...things will work out...just keep your chin up and take a deep breath...stress isn't good for the little guy...he likes his mama happy... :)
