I have taken the last week and a have of from training do to an injury. During that time period i did not take my protein shakes(Myoplex Deluxe). Yesterday I had a shake 2 hours before I went to the gym. I did 35 minutes of wt and 25 min of cardio. That night when I got home I found my self to be very very moody. I had a weird taste in my mouth and was just craving another shake. I had 4 eggs and 4 slices of toast two hours after my work out yet i still craved another shake.
I have been having problems being moody for the past several months about the same time I started training harder and taking the shakes. During the week and half I took off from training the moodyness has gone away. I have consulted my doctor about this and after some blood work found my testosterone to be very low (weight trainers nightmare). I am on hormone replacements now but am still having problems when I take my shakes.
Does any body have any input? I could really use some help!

Hormone imbalance and any hormone therapy WILL make one moody.
Also, look at the ingredient label (not the nutrient label)on the shakes, my thought here is to see the sugars listed and the content. Just a thought.

Wow, this is a first. I think it is obvious that the shakes aren't causing your moodieness, but how about your HRT? Now there is your obvious answer, like carivan said. By the way how old are you? Fill out your profile so we can help you better.:dumbbell:

Usually after a workout, I feel pretty good. Not moody at all, just relaxed and ready to take a nap.

Well it's not the protein. I found out it was to little carbs and not enough water. Every time I start to get irratable I will eat a granola bar and some water. I guess you just have to learn to listen to your body.

ratwo - regular myoplex shakes used to make me fall asleep, same thing happened to my training partner. Myoplex lite doesn't affect me that way.
Dairy products and wheat make me tired and cracky 9the wheat moreso than the dairy) I think food intolerances can really affect your mood.
eat a balanced diet of six small meals a day, with complex carbs and protein at each meal and your blood sugar will be more stable so you are less prone to moodiness. granola bars tend to be kind of sugary, which will pick you up and drop you fairly rapidly, either combine them with a protein source at the same time or have a small meal. Oatmeal with protein powder mixed in is fast and easy!
