Ok, I am a 15 year old male. I lift weights 4 times a week, monday, tuesday, thursday, and friday. I am on the the strongest in my grade.
My maxes are:
Bench: 230
Incline 200
Squat 250
Hip Sled 675
Clean 190
Dead Lift 300

The problem is that we all lift the same routine and everyone else seems to get bigger and stronger faster than i do. I have no idea what to do. I will not take suppliments! How do i intensify my workout but still have enough rest between lifts to have my peak performance? I hope somoen can help me with this. I hope to get my maxes alot higher for football and i want to look awesome without a shirt.

Around 80% of you reaching your goal is not depends on your diet......
You can work as a crazy, but if you don't get the needed proteins to build up your muscles then it will never happen.

Tell us about your diet as well.

It not a contest to see who can lift the most weight! Have you improved in the last 6 month? Last year ? If so be happy and do not measure yourself by others. Look for improvements overtime! There are factors such as genetics, diet and(drugs) and how much sleep you get too! Also you may need to change your exercises. Don' always do what everyone else is doing. Find what works best for you. We all hit a plateau at some point so you need to make a change. Our bodies adapt to stress quickly.
There is always someone in our life who is bigger stronger smarter better looking has more money nicer car.....you get the point right? Keep up the good work and see you around the board!!!!!!!

I'd also like to mention that you are 15. Your body is still growing and changing, and the others in your class may just be growing and changing at a different pace than you. A word of caution to you. My son's physical therapist has told me that weight training can be harmful until you are an adult, because since you are still growing, it puts lots of strain on your joints, and can cause them to malform and give you lots of problems as you age. I'm sure your coach is aware of this, and is there to give you guidelines and such, but I just wanted you to be aware.

Good luck!

Well thanks guys...I pretty much train for football.
this is my routine.
Monday-Bench, Incline, Jammer, and Squats (also include extra like arms curls)
Tuesday - Hip Sled, Dead Lift, Cleans, and Close Grip Bench
Thursday is the same as monday but lighter weight.
Friday is the same as tuesday but also lighter weight.

My coach tells me i have perfect form for all my lifts.
I just want to get stronger faster. I want to dominate the football field. I have no particular diet. Im 15...i dont wanna count calories and crap. I cant help compare myself to everyone else, its just the way i am. I havent reached my plateau yet becuz im still movin up in the weights but not as rapid as i was before. Thats what i dont understand. But anyways thanks for the help.

Schrad the answer is simple........it takes time. my favorite saying is "persistence and failure never stay in the same room". Be persistent keep to your goals and you will eventually be at a place you are happy with.

Just keep working as hard you have been. Eat healthy and make sure that you consume a lot of protein throughout the day. You might have just hit a plateau while the other kids are getting bigger...all you can do is work through it. Try doing lower reps with more weight. That will definately help you to get increased strenght. Do about 5-8 reps of a heavier weight than you usually do.

No musclerage, I'm afraid I have to correct you (and I'll write it down to everybody so you'll know):

If you want muscle strength you generally wont develop much muscle endurance, you lift heavy weights, low reps (1-6)and long rest periods (3-5mins) between sets.

For muscle mass you need testosterone (that's why it's so difficult and takes so long for us women to gain muscles....), you lift moderately heavy weights, 6-12 reps and restperiods are 1-2mins.

To tone (or endurance training) you use lighter weights, high reps and short rest between the sets.

Okey? ;-)

Schrad0069 why do you not want to follow a diet routine? Most individuals looking to maximize gains in their sport follow a diet routine. There is a book "Dynamic Nutrition for Maximum Performance" Hatfield & Gastelu. A good investment.

Because he's 15 years old! What teenager wants to follow a strict routine instead of going out to Taco Bell or McDonald's? I think he should be aware of his diet, and he could even supplement it, but IMHO, it's more important for him now to have fun and be a kid (oh, sorry, young adult ;)). Soon enough he'll be old like us and have to worry about bills and kids and diet regimens. Right now all he should have to worry about is if that cute girl in the front row of algebra class wants to go out with him to see a show.

I'm 16 years old and have been following a pretty strict nutrition regimen since I was 14 so the fact that your a teenager isn't an excuse. If you really want to make the gains you talk about, eating right will help you. When I eat junk food and lift later I don't feel as strong and feel less motivated, but when I do eat right I feel fine. You don't have to be perfect with your eating if you feel like having something that's not healthy, go for it, it won't kill you. But, eating healthier will impact your performance. Make sure you don't do drugs either, if you do, its pointless to eat healthy because drugs tax your body so much. Some guys I know like to get wasted just about every weekend and even though they lift and eat healthy the rest of the time, since they started drinking they have barely made any gains. These are your decisions though and all we can do is help educate you. Good luck with your strength and football.

Unfortunately, not every teenager can follow a strict nutrition regimen. Good point on the drugs...just say NO!

I didn't say "strict" did I???? The individual in question wants to maximize his gains, but not follow any specific diet. Not possible in most cases. And also what parent wouldn't jump for joy if their kid said "mom I would like chicken rice and green beans for dinner. No pizza and coke for me!" My parents were on a strict budget but we still ate good clean diets. We only had junk as a treat once in a while.

Itroisi, you didn't say strict, I was just telling what I have been doing. I was just trying to make the the point that he needs to change some of his nutrition habits and start eating a little cleaner.

No, I said strict, as that was what I imagined he meant when he said 'no diet routines'. I think eating healthy and making wise choices is not exactly a diet routine, that's just a way of life. On the other hand, drinking tons of weight gainer shakes, and doing complicated supplement routines is not. Well, at least to me. I understand that for many people, this is a way of life, and Ironbod, you are to be commended for your dedication, however, I think that the average teen should have other worries instead of his/her body. (Man, do I really only have 6 more years until my son is a teen?!? Better go get the cane and false teeth ready ;))

Alorle, I am an average teen and have many other worries on my mind besides my body. I just try to manage my time effectively so I can make time to take care of my body, I also find lifting to be a way for me to relieve stress and worries. I didn't intend on coming across as if my body was the main focus of my life, I just wanted to try and explain how nutrition is as important as lifting if one wants to make fairly rapid gains.
