Hi! I am so glad I discovered FT. I start my customized fitness program on Monday and I am so psyched! I was wondering if any of you can give me some tips on staying motivated as I have a tendency to get burnt out after a brief period of time. I know a lean, gorgeous body should be motivation enough but sometimes the lazies kick in! Thanks in advance to everyone, and thanks for really making new members feel welcome with your positive posts!

Take a before photo of yourself and put it where you will see it daily.
Find a picture of what you want to look like (be realistsic, it needs to be a similar bodyshape to yours), put it by your before photo.

Write down what you are going to eat each day, a plan will help you stay in control of your day.

Make small goals each day, week and month (today I will do 30 minutes of cardio, this week I will lift weights 3 times, this month I will lose 4 pounds). Goals have to be realistic and achievable.

Burn out commonly occurs when people do to much too fast. Take it gradually and don't exhaust yourself. make sure rest days are built into your program.

And everytime you get off track, instead of beating yourself up and quitting restart. That is the great thing about life - every day is a new day to start again.

I have found that this website helps alot with motivation. You can always find guidance and reinforcement here. Sometimes in our daily life those things are hard to find. If you can stick with it for 4-6 weeks and you are realistic, your results will speak for themselves. Stay dedicated, stay active, be patient and you will be surprised at what you can achieve. Good luck and welcome. I look forward to reading about your success. BTW what asimmer said is one of the best ways to keep your motivation high. If you rely on the mirror alone, chances are you will miss the changes. We get used to seeing ourselves everyday. Again, Good luck.

Welcome to the site TJFreeman. Stick around here like a post-it, and you will get the motivation you are looking for. Eventually the motivation becomes habit and you will be,exercising and eating right without thiinking about it. If you know you burn out, set shorter goals.
