I've had the most exciting thing happen and wanted to share it with you.
One of my fiction stories was selected to be in my university's annual literary offering, so I'm a real published author now. I'm so very pleased and I wanted to tell you! Tonight was the reading, I took my kids and they are so proud of me, that is the coolest feeling. I realize that it is a small thing, but when I started to school 3 years ago I had no idea that something like this could happen to me. I'm just really proud of myself. The book containing my work will be back from the publisher within 2 weeks and I will see my work in print for the first time. Thanks for listening! -------------- Anni ******* Have you hugged your EFAs today? |

Very cool, anni! What is the story about? Can we read it somewhere online?
Keep it up! Soon you will be on the Oprah Bookclub list:surprised: -------------- If you fall down seven times, get up eight. |

The current story is a fiction piece about a woman whose baby dies in childbirth. It's a bit like looking through a window, we just observe her from a distance.
It's not online and the university owns it for a while yet so I can't put it online. I have a non-fiction piece which is online, the address is http://www.washburn.edu/current/essays/past/Annette_L.html If you just copy and paste that, it should take you right to it. I hope you enjoy reading it. I don't know if there will be more but this has certainly been an experience worth having. It is fuel for my dream of graduation, I will be the first college graduate in my family, ever. -------------- Anni ******* Have you hugged your EFAs today? |

The pinwheels of all things, brought tears to my eyes... a very touching and visually stimulating narrative.
Most sincere congratulations on your achievement; when do you anticipate graduating?? |

anni -
you are truly a gifted writer. your descriptions are some of the most vivid i have ever seen put into words. the ability to capture emotion effectively is a rare talent, and you certainly possess it. congratulations on your publishing - i hope that we read many more of your stories in the years to come! -------------- success comes before work only in the dictionary. that's right. |

Thank you very much Datdanigirl, I'm so pleased that you like it. I've always been very nudgy about sharing my work, so your reaction is very encouraging.
It looks like I will graduate with my BA in Psychology in about 4 semesters. After that, hoping to be accepted to graduate school at the University of Florida, I wanna be a Gaitor! That and it's a real easy drive to either coast, I love the beaches and the ocean is the most beautiful thing I have ever seen. -------------- Anni ******* Have you hugged your EFAs today? |
