Hey everyone. I am back to the board after a long layoff. I have been real busy at work and had stopped going to the gym for about 6 weeks. At that point a got real fat and was at 235-240lbs. I am now down to a trimmer 205-207lbs. I got a question for everyone and would like there opinion or input. I still want to lose about 10 more pounds and lift at 195lbs. I am starting to powerlift again and before my layoff at 215lbs benched 345lbs and deadlifted 495lbs. I now want to bring my numbers back up. I currently deadlifted 425lbs on friday. My question is though, can I bring my bench and deadlift up even while dieting??? I am currently eating about 100-150 carbs a day. And protein 150-200 grams. Fat around 20-30 grams. Also, doing about 5.5 - 8 hours of cardio a week. So what do you guys think? Sorry for the long post.

It's very difficult...to gain strength and lose weight at the same time...u may have a brief initial period where that's possible but then the progress will stop or start going backwards...
Do u squat?

no I dont squat. I never really liked squating. I did for a while and could only do about 405lbs. So far though on my diet I have been getting quite a bit stronger on alot of exercises. But, I want to add to my bench and deadlift mainly. For instance, when I startded benching I could only handle 225 for 5 unlocked reps and now I am up to 12-13reps again. I guess what I really want is to lift and 195lbs. So when I get down there I will eat a normal diet again. So far so good I guess. Any other suggestions please let me know.

If you use the proper recovery methods and diet, you can lose some fat and get stronger. I know this sounds like it will suck, but it's just about how bad you want it: If you take out every carb source except fruits and veggies from your diet, drink lots of water, and get about a gram of protein per pound of bodyweight, I believe it can consitently be done. The diet of purely fruits and vegetables and lean meats will assure that you waste no energy digesting grains or something else of the sort, you get plenty of nutrients, and you're not as much of a grouch to be around because of carb cutback. It would also be a good idea to start supplementation with fish oil, and slow your eating down at nighttime. As far as the recovery methods go, I reccomend using antioxidants and a good PWO Powder that has creatine and glutamine in it. Just my two cents.

I agree with you aron. I think anything is possible nowadays. I will stick my diet and see how things go.
I currently take protein powder and glutamine. I wont take creatine. I never liked it very much.

If you just take it in small amounts, it can be very beneficial for recovery.
