This is going to sound a stupid question but here goes. When I tense my chest the muscle is there and quite hard but when I relax again it feels like it is just fat.??? I don't understand....and is there anyway I turn it in to rock hard muscle

Same deal here man LOL I have been trying for years to get that I think it is diet.....hope that helped

Mutt is right...it is a matter of getting rid of the layer of fat covering the muscle through proper dieting. Once you expose the muscles, you will find that they "look" tense all the time...

Thanks. Iv got back on that never ending belt of the tredmill. 15-20 mins after a work out. Im determind to get them abs and muscles showing. we will see how it goes

All answers are correct. Diet is the key. If you can flex the muscle and make it tight, but unflexed it is kind of flabby, it is a layer of fat over the muscle. Definition will show through diet. Hit the cardio along with it to speed things up a bit to help create your caloric deficit. Spring is here!! LOL...
