I just drug my butt in the house and I am sitting here covered in paint and sheet rock dust. My nails look like claws, my ponytail is a lovely shade of navajo cream, and I feel like I have no neck as the tension from the day has roped my shoulders up underneath my ears.

Still, we are getting a lot accomplished and that is good, but the reality of our grand opening being just a week away is looming in my sky like a dark cloud. I am such a perfectionist and I am having to choke down some acceptance that everything may not be polished off the way I wanted for the birth of Exsalonce Salon and Day Spa.

Ok, I'm done whining....must shower and sleep.

Welcome to renovation Julliene!!!!! Now you know why all construction worker's pants ride down and show their crack. Only one way to make pants do that.

Just worry with the important stuff. The devil is in the details. We did our powder room in Navajo red. Why do they get all the colors??

Try to be patient with yourself and with the process. You want it to be perfect because you care and that's a good thing. Try to settle in and know that perfection will come and with it will come happy, well cared for customers.

No matter how tired and dirty you get, doesnt it feel good to look at what youve done and think to yourself: I did this! Perfect is in the eye of the beholder. Best of luck with your project and your opening. Such talented and successful people we have here at FT.

Thanks guys...it's been another long day, 15 hours to be exact. However I am in a more positive mood tonight so instead of whining, I will share with you some things that I learned about life, construction, and myself today.

1. I can figure out how to undo the plumbing and remove a sink.

2. I can stand on the top step of a 10 foot ladder, paint, and sing along with the radio all at the same time.

3. Hand trucks are the bomb.

4. When applying sheet rock mud, less is more.

5. When in my profession, it is best not to give the clerk at Home Depot a business card when you look like you haven't brushed your hair in weeks.

6. I can apply textured paint with a paper towel better than a $30 roller made specifically for this ungodly act.

7. When you are the boss, nobody yells at you for asking them to sand it off when you decide that you don't like it.

8. It is an absolute certainty that when the business next door closes at 5:00, that at 5:01, your toilets will still be out of commission and will have to pee like a russian racehorse.

9. I can appreciate the love of a man that will do something he hates more than anything to help me achieve a goal. (and then some....he's still there, bless his heart)

9. I managed to remember that refrigerators should not be laid on their sides and for that, I will be rewarded with cold drinks tomorrow instead of the hot diet coke I sipped on all day.

10. And lastly, I learned that when you get home and you're almost in tears because you are tired, hungry and in pain...your children will make it all better:

THEM: "Mommy, it's ok....you look ugly but the site is pretty."
:surprised:
