I am 40 years old, weigh 205 (down from 210 a month ago), and this week I started on FreeTrainers Pro, got a bicycle, and am exercising every day. I'm not trying to bulk up and be a bodybuilder; I just want to be as healthy as I can be. I think it will help me be more productive at work and at home. This site is a GREAT way to keep up with my workouts and motivate me to not let a day go by without entering some data. I love it!

Welcome, Steve! I have been gone for awhile, but continued to work with what I have learned here at FT and you are right, it is a great site, very helpful and your attitude sounds excellent, I don't think you will have any problem with motivation! Good luck with your goals!

I can always keep up with it for a few months, but if one thing (the flu, vacation, whatever) knocks me off, it is really tough for me to get back on. Eating right is a challenge too, but I am getting better.

I have struggled with the same thing, it seems like whenever I really get into an exercise program I end up with a three week flu or something and it has proven so discouraging that I just want to scream. Last year I joined a gym and within the first couple weeks of joining, I came down with the worst virus I had had in ten years, it really ticked me off as I had been working so hard and then here I am running a fever and miserable --knowing how hard getting motivated would be once I was better again. The best thing I have figured out for myself after all the frustrations is that I found other activities that I enjoy and I work them in, not just lifting weights and my glider and exercise bike, but I took up tennis again, taking long walks at a local park, canoeing and much more, thereby I was getting a workout, burning calories doing things I enjoy much more than sitting on a bike for 30 minutes. Before I knew it I was playing tennis three times a week at least and for a min. of 2 hours, I was going out canoeing, etc. and it just became part of my week as I enjoyed it, I have learned that I am not all that thrilled about an exercise program but I love exercising!
As far as the food, that was hard because all those activities made me HUNGRY and my old habits of grabbing the quickest fix threaten me often yet, now what I do is go straight for this salad bar next to the park I do most of my activities at and eat a healthy salad and a big glass of lemon water and it is wonderful, I have accomplished eating well and exercise and don't feel like I had to work at it!
Again, good luck to you, being here on FT is very helpful as it keeps you aware and lets you understand others going through the same things!

Thanks brother. Just got back from a 30 minute bicycle ride and did my bench presses and calf raises. So far so good.
