Not another question about supplements right? Wrong. I'm still uncertain as to which supplements to take. It seems really confusing and overwhelming. I've been crash coursing myself for the past two days by reading articles and many of the posts on the site. I know that protein, creatine, glutamine, and multi-vitamins are the main ones to take to gain muscle mass. I just want to be smart and buy exactly what is right for me before spending my money. Can someone tell me exactly what to buy? I'm a 20 year old, 177 lb male, 5'11"... I workout at 6 AM for 5 days a week for 1 1/2 to 2 hours before my classes. I've also read that you need to take some supplements a half hour before you work out. Do I really have to get up at 5:30 AM just to drink my supplements? Any advice from experienced supplement users will be appreciated!

Thanks for the welcome. I posted my question in the supplements section. Actually I just went out and bought creatine, protein, and a multi-vitamin from GNC after all my research. I know a lot of people have issues with GNC being overpriced or employees not knowing what they are talking about. But the guy who helped me in GNC was very helpful and not trying to sell me a crappy, over-priced product. He understood where I was coming from and I even got some good discounts for becoming a Gold Card member. Bodybuilding veterans may have the art of buying supplements down to a science of online bargaining, but for a beginner like me, I had to look no further than GNC. I'm a poet, and I don't know it.

if your working out 5-6 days a week, glutamine would also be a smart investment. beware of many too-good-to-be-true advertisements for supplements, they are. and in answer to your question about taking a supplement at 5:30, a trick that many people use, (many bodybuilders, that is) is to mix yourself a protein shake with whatever else you want, and then leave it by your bed. That way, when you wake up in the morning, its already there. It'll also work like coffee in helping you to wake up, without you having to walk all the way to the coffee machine. Also, instead of a midnight snack, if you wake up in the middle of the night, its right there.
