I am 5'8 and I just started playing basketball a year ago, I know that dunking is out of reach but i was just wondering what I could do to increase my vertical which I believe is around 32 inches

Hi. Do a search in the "fitBuddy" box at the bottom of the page. This topic has been covered many times over, and you should be able to find a lot of good resources for increasing your vertical.

you can still dunk at 5'8....especially if you're a good jumping off one foot.....just focus on explosive movements like cleans and snatch....as well as jump squats....some of the things you'll find discussed in other posts when you search for them...

Spudd Webb was 5'7" and won an NBA Dunk Contest in the 80's. Hook Mitchell was 5'10" or so I believe, and he jumped over cars and dunked. With a vertical of 32 inches, dunking is definitely not out of reach for you. Just workout hard and most importantly, work out SMART. Know what you're doing before you get into things.
