Ok, MAYBE, I'm not allowed in here...hmmmmm...but figured you guys would be the experts on giving me advice for my "guyfriend" who is starting out and wants to develope the chest/pecs region. I think he has the "runners build" so I don't really know how much development he can get or what program he should ck into. SO...looking for some great tips (even it it includes diet) for him to check into.

On the main menu, go to ft Exercise Resources, then choose Muscle Targeting, then Chest. There are many exercises that develop the entire muscle as well as isolation movements to define upper and lower chest areas.

Good luck.

you're always welcomed here!
so, for your "friend:" check out FT's chest exercises - they have some really good diagrams and pics. if those are not sufficient, let me know, and maybe i can give some more info.
just remember with your chest: the pecs are a large muscle group and sometimes can really need a pounding in order to get them to do anything, unlike some of the smaller muscle groups. you'll just have to experiment a little, and see how you repsond.

good luck..........michael

This worked wonders for me and I swear by it.

To lay a solid chest, you must train the upper pecs as a priority. Building up this region will make the chest look full and thick. It looks nice around your shoulders and trapezius tie-ins. So start workout always with an inclined movement, then incorporate a flat movement, then a width wmovement. Finish off with Dips to hit the lower chest.

Good Luck to your friend.

Inclines ,declines and bench! It will build muscle and most of all definition. So will at least look good. Try to go heavy within reason 3 set of each last set being barely able to finish. Spotter will help . Skin

Skinner - are you talking inclines, declines with free weights or doing cable cross overs with the machine? Actually, I'm trying to work this into my routine as well.

In my routine I do sets of incline and decline with dumbells (heavy sets) and also do incline and decline with cable crossover. I prefer dumbells since they are harder than using a bar (no way to cheat) I have always liked free weights and never really used machines until I tried the cross overs and I really liked the pump I got out of it.

Well...I think that I have had the most progression in my chest than anywhere else since i started workin out two years ago. When I first started working out I made my chest my main priority, considering it's often times the first thing that people notice(besides arms). I do 3 heavy sets of each of these workouts: flat bench press, close-grip bench, inclined bench. I also do dips with weight attached to my weight belt and do 10-15 reps. This really helps to cut and build the chest. You dont have to use weight, instead you can do 15-30reps. Another thing, don't neglect those push-ups. Although they are very basic, they work wonders. Hope this helps!
