"Subject: Thought for the day:
If you consider that there have been an average of 160,000 troops in the Iraq theater of operations during the last 22 months, that gives a firearm death rate of 60 per 100,000. The firearm death rate in Washington D.C. is 80.6 per 100,000. That means that you are 25% more likely to be shot and killed in our nation's capital, which has some of the strictest gun control laws in the nation, than you are in Iraq. Conclusion: We should immediately pull out of Washington, D.C."

Those are interesting statistics. But where did you get this information from?

David, I found it through several sources. Cut and paste the entire paragraph into a google search. There are many references.

That is a fantastic example of GOP/NRA propaganda! 22 month's eh? So that puts us back to Jan 2004. No invasion that year as I recall. They cut out all of 2003! I wonder how the statistics would change if they included roadside and suicide bombing. How about firearm related amputations? I'd much rather take my chances in D.C.
Statistics are wonderful critters.

I guess it depends on how you look at it. To me this makes the NRA look absurd. I also take from this that we need more police and especially district attornys so that criminal cases are prosecuted rather than pled down to a nothing misdameanor.

What I think its stupid is that you can buy an assault rifle when your 18 but you cant own a pistol until your 21? Doesnt make much sense, sure there compact and easier to hide if you were planning on robbing a store or a person etc. but most of the guns used for criminal acts are unregistered anyways!

I agree David. You can't drink either at 18. Everybody knows guns are no fun without alcohol.
Pot's another subject Mike but I'm glad you noticed.
