Hi everyone! My name is Ken, and I am an attorney practicing in Michigan. Up until recently I didn't much care about my weight or my fitness level. Then I hit 30 and was 50 pounds overweight, with my doctor telling me I'm on the fast road to diabetes and heart disease. Not only that, but my energy levels were unbelievably low for my age.
I decided in February that it was time to make a change, so I started the South Beach Diet, which I have modified slightly such that I occasionally (maybe once every 1.5 weeks) do eat the "forbidden foods", but I also calorie count to compensate. I have lost 17 pounds since then, but my fitness level is still very low.
I play tennis on a league but have noticed that I don't have as much energy as I'd like, and that I tend to get winded rather quickly. Also, the weight loss is starting to create some flab, even though my waistline has decreased. I came here to learn how to do what I need to get into better shape both aesthetically and how I feel. I look forward to getting to know many of you as time goes on.
