Is it better to run 3km, or brisk walk 3km? In terms of
a)energy burning and b)muscle forming.
Or are they all the same? Help please! And thanks so much :)

The point is to get your HR up to the point where you want it. You will burn more energy obviously if you are running thus making your cardio time shorter.

To change it, or to create it, simply train it!

I think you will burn the same amount of calories, it will just take longer if you walk briskly. As for muscle forming that done with resistance training

Agree with carivan, HR is the key. Higher the heartrate, the more calories/hr your burn rate. Simple physics.

You'll burn the same amount of calories either way. The distance is the same and your mass is the same - work = force x distance (I think I got that right) - so the amount of work you do is always the same. When you run, however, you do that work more quickly.

About running/walking..heres a different approach..

I dont run because I am a bigger guy and it is too strenuous on the joints. I am 300 lbs 6'3 24 yrs old. I dont want to tear up my tendons/joints/ligaments. So I walk. Walking is the best they say in general.
