I'm doing my exercise plan on two days a week. The problem I think I have is that I read somewhere that you should not allow more than three days between training a muscle group. Something about if you wait that long you haven't really gained anything. The way my program is I'll only be training a group one time a week. So is that true? I hate to think I'm doing this for nothing.

I dont think that is exactly true, and doing anything is better than nothing. Even on a 4 day split I am only working each muscle group once a week, except as secondary groups. I think most, except for the pros and those going for competitions, just train each group once a week, or once every 5 days. I think you will be fine, and no it's not for 'nothing'. Good luck.
