Maybe if the bananas are cold and you mush them over your sore muscles:laugh: Actually not sure if they'd help or not. They are good if you have a tendency to cramp up (I think its the potassium in them??) I've also heard pineapple juice is good for bruising.....but I digress.....

Potassium may help. Also, I have heard pineapple being totted for PWO nutrition. I'll see what I can turn up.

Pineapple has a high sugar content. Besides that, it is great for digestion.

Ok, low potassium levels have been associated excercise induced myopathy. This is a fancy way of saying overtraining.
Also, potassium is released during intense bouts of anaerobic exercise.
However, as of present, there are no research studies (that I could find) examining the effectiveness of potassium supplementation in enhancing recovery ability.

I say do it. Theres no harm (unless your on a ketogenic diet) and it's not like they're expensive or ill-tasting.

Yeah, dex and malto is not right for everyone. For instance, my wife is a diabetic. I have her use a banana post workout with her protein shake.

hmmmm. Interesting point. I take it that that is to avoid insulin pathways through using fructose as a pwo carbohydrate?

I know potassium may help relieve muscle cramps pwo as it is one of key electrolytes being depleted during bouts of intense exercise whether aerobic or anerobic....however I am not sure it helps to relieve muscle soreness ...

lack of potassium has lead to muscle locking in long distance running. bananas are given sometimes half way through a race to help with this.

Yeah, with type II diabetics, hell, literally anything can jack their insulin. So, a banana does this to smaller extent(as opposed to dex for instance) pwo as you mention, plus gives her potassium and just some nutrition with her protein.
