Hey, I was just wondering: If someone trains their abs untill the exercise doesn't hurt anymore and then raises the number of reps, and keep raising, will it ever come to a limit? Will it stop hurting someday?

Resistance is key to abs, not reps. Raising reps will burn more calories of course through more energy expenditure, but will not build you more muscle. Adding resistance and proper rest will build the muscle, whether in your abs or anywhere else.

Don't go beyond 20...and you can use weight and lower reps ....abs respond well to high intensity low reps....as they are fast twitch muscles..

But how do you use weight in abs exercise???

You can use plate weights (on chest) during crunches, do leg lifts on a slant board or medicine balls and dumbells if the ab exercise you are doing will allow so. Make sure to add weights with caution though. Its more important to have good technique. I'm sure there are other ways to add weights but these are my personal preferences.

you can also use the pull down rope and get on your knees and pull the rope down to your head and lower your head to the ground and flex your stomach

Quoting from bb1fit:

Through doing High Reps and burning calories, will this provide definition by removing fat around the muscle being used, or is fat burned from different areas indiscriminantly?

I beleive that it is commonly held that spot reduction is impossible. People have posted that diet is the only way to remove the stuff in fornt of abs.

that is true......you can do thousands of sit ups every day, but if you take in 10,000 calories from mcdonalds you wont be seeing a six pack anytime soon

Spinna ...although you'll expend more calories...the extra expended calories are negligible....also the body will burn from everywhere in the body....not just the abs....(although it depends for everyone where the body prefers to first store/use fat storages...may very well be stomach for some people...this is mostly genetics)
