Hi:
I have noticed that when I exercise my shoulders I get these long streaks that look like scratches on both my shoulders just above my shoulder blades. This normally happens after lateral raises.
I was wondering if this is an indication of over training or anything other that is more seriuos. These scratch kind of looking streaks stay for a couple of days and they seem to sort of disappear.
So please help me out with some explanation of this phenomenon before I am left alone grappling for words trying to explain this to my wife in the bedroom :(

Thats odd. Are you pressing on a bench that could be cutting into your shoulders?
Are they like stretch marks?
I have gotten abrasion marks from the leg press pads on my shoulders, and from carrying an overstuffed gym bag, but never from shoulder presses.
Maybe yoiu are rupturing blood vessels when you are ptressing for some reason?
I would say if you can rule out any external cause like the pads or your shirt seam rubbing, you should see a doctor.
Good Luck!

Your not alone, the same thing happens to me. I just figured that I was scraping myself on the machine somehow.

I've gotten marks like those from the seam on my t-shirt while I'm doing shoulders. Mine usually don't last for more than a few hours, though, so it could be something else.
