Well, I have lost 12kg so far by dieting and walking 45mins 4 or 5 days a week, but i think Im going to need more than walking to get any further.
I want to look better, I have been obese my whole life (well ... ever since I can remember anyway) and such have lived the life of a "fat kid". Not being able to do what my friends can, always being picked last etc. and Im basically sick of it.
I have created an exercise program for fat burning, however even when I say I can only use free weights, it gives me machine exercises to do ? Is this a glitch ?
Anyway, any suggestions as for how I can lose weight effectively and (hopefully) quickly ? I am nearly 6' and weigh about 280lbs, so as you can gather I need to lose the weight for health reasons aswell.
Any advice is greatly appreciated. As I said, I am eating healthy, but I need a little more than that to do the job.

I forget to add, I DO have a very basic machine that can do leg extensions, bicep curls, triceps, and shoulders but thats about it in that respect. I have dumbells, a weights bench and a fair bit of weight to use. Hope that helps.

First off welcome to FT BlakeyBoyR. Very glad to have you aboard! -and glad to hear you've decided to make a change! You've got a long road ahead of you. I hope you have the dedication it's going to take friend. We'll be here for you when you need some pep talk or some advise.
I would try to get some more cardio.. lots of it. Keep up with the walking.. and if you can get to a gym an elliptical trainer would be a good low impact workout for you. Building up your muscles is good too. The more muscle you have, the easier time you'll have burning off the flab. If you can't get to the gym, climbing some stairs might help you out.
Another note.. don't starve yourself! Eat.. but eat healthy. Lots of meals, 4-5 per day... but smaller.. and healthier.
You won't get overnight progress BlakeyBoyR. But it WILL happen if you stick with it. My good friend has a story similar to your own. She had been severly overweight her whole life basically. She worked hard and long.. and she's now very healthy and loving life. You can do it!
-------------- Dont wait! Procrastinate NOW! =)

Welcome blakeyboy. Drio's right, there are no quick fixes to what we've spent years doing to our bodies, but you've come to the right place. I saw in your profile that you think you have to lose the fat before you can bulk up, but you can do both. Actually lifting weights will build muscle and the more muscle you have the better your metabolism is for burning fat. So lift your weights, do your cardio and eat clean and often.

Thankyou for the support and advice, I think I am going to need it ! What's an elliptical trainer ? What do you think is a reasonable time period to hope to lose my weight in ? Thankyou again.

I don't know if there is a 'right' answer to that one. Everyone is different. I have been doing this for quite a while and I hate to tell you, but I've yet to see the scales go down. I have really built up my muscles and tightened my whole body though and my clothes are not as tight, but since muscle takes up less space that fat, it's hard to actually gage the exchange of fat for muscle. The advice here is throw out the scales and start taking your measurements. Good luck, you can do it.

Hi, and welcome to FT, it doesn't look like I can add anything that the rest haven't told you already, but I can tell you that dedication to the cause and hard work is the only way you will get there. Good luck to you. One more thing, the elliptical trainer is what I called the glider, your feet are stationary, you glide back and forth and it is great to burn those calories off with. My favorite!
