Its been ages since Ive been on here but thought Id say something as Im now getting back into the training after a long period (7 months) off any major exercise. I was at a stage where I was very happy with what I had acheived, My power to weight had increased thus making my climbing more enjoyable and satisfying! However new job meant longer hours and I lost what I had.
Went to the Local gym tonight and it nearly killed me, Stupidly i tried lifting what I used to be able to and failed so after the first set I dropped it right down and just took it to failure in each set.
Machine incline press I was at 30Kg for one set and then 20Kg for the last two sets of 12,10 and 8 reps.
Seated Machine Flys, 30kg, 20kg, 10kg for 12,10 and 8 reps.
Seated Machine presses, 30kg, 20kg, 10kg for 12, 10 and 8 reps.
Tricep Pulldowns, 40kg, 30kg, 30kg, 30kg, for 12, 10, 10, 10.
Dips, bodyweight (80kg approx) 12, 10, 6
20 mins of light cardio after and stretching throughout.
I realise that I cant expect to just sail straight back into working out as I was doing last year but It sure does dent your confidence!!
Can anybody give me any tips or have any recommendations as he who doesnt make mistakes doesnt learn and I dont want that to be me!! Or if you want to know anything else please ask :)
Thanks for your time.

Just walk before you run brother. That which doesn't kill you will just hurt for a while.

If you were working out for a while before your 7 month break, I doubt that "it's all gone".
As uncle charlie says, break yourself in gently, and you may well find your gains are quicker than the first time round.
Good luck

Yeah like princess said I doubt it's all gone. I had 2 months off last summer and was back lifting what I was lifting before the summer just 2 weeks after starting up again.

I must agree, I, too, had a few months hiatus and though I could not even compare to your workout, when I began in the gym I was disappointed my first day, but I kept plugging at it and within two weeks I was doing much, much better in both cardio and lifting and was able to increase both. Hang in there and you will do just fine in no time!
