I'm new to this site. I have been doing everything on my own for the last 9 months with no gyms, crazy diet schemes or pills. All natural. I've got 87 lbs to lose and am starting to notice that it's getting harder. I have been taking in about 1000 to 1200 calories a day and have only been eating 3 meals a day with no snacking. I've been very active since the first of the year and I walk around my farm everynight and time myself to see if I'm getting any faster. When I started walking everyday I only went a half mile now I go 1.3 miles and it's all hills on grass. When I started it took me 52 minutes and last night was my personal best at 26 minutes. I've been averaging around 3.36 lbs of loss per week. I keep reading that 5 to 6 small meals are better for you in the long run. Can anyone back this up? I do some circut training too. I can see my goal and it's right in front of me. Any help or comments would be appreciated. thx. Jeremy aka (Slim)

First off a big congratulations to you for taking the step into the healthy lifestyle and your achievements. Welcome to freetrainers.
It is best to eat 5-6 smaller meals or even 3 meals and two snacks. The reason behind this is that it speeds up your metabolism, and stops us from feeling empty. I personally have the 3 meals and snacks. Again congratulations and please keep us posted on your progress.

Wow that's AWESOME! Congrats on the weight loss! I'm definitely on board for 3 meals and 3 snacks during the day. You may need to gradually increase your calories though for continued weight loss. 1000-1200 a day is in all reality very low and your body may be headed into starvation mode. I eat around 2500-2600 a day and I'm just a hair over 200 lbs.

That is just awesome, I am not a trainer or anything like that, I like to try different things to keep my workouts fresh. Try a different route (maybe go backwards) try new route. I was walking on a treadmill and found that doing a little jog for a short time really helps. Also if you don't have an I pod or mp3 player, I find that that really really helps my workouts. I have also read that if you do not get enough calories your body will start to store fat so try to increase your meals (keep them small) and see how your body reacts, you know your body better than anyone else so see how it goes. KEEP IT UP YOU WILL GET THERE.
