It's that time to put size on again. Started my heavy lifting routine with my first spin class today (Instuctor). I thought I was not gonna make it. I'm still recouping and have three months to go. I will not be spinning of course everday, but my goodness I thought I was in good condition. I'm competing May 21st so I've got a long 6/7 months ahead, and I ask myself why? Oh that's right, because I love it or am I just nuts?

Dendy... do you mean the sheiko routine???? I think I've read stuff on him before... Is he the one that advocates training the press 4-5 times a week at lower volume???-------------- The Edge... there is no honest way to explain it because the only people who really know where it is are the ones who have gone over. ~~~Hunter S. Yes, that is what I mean, Sheiko and I do the 3 main movements 3 days a week, on the other three days I pick up the rest of the body. I have cut my cardio down and I have increased my calories. The guys at work are competitive powerlifters and are always giving me a hard time about my bodybuilding sissy weights, so I took up the challange to powerlift for my bulking phase and actually I really like it.
I'm training at LVAC Eastern/Serene, yes, not to many powerlifters, but it's a really nice gym. |

OK so don't laugh, but that is what I am doing right now--POWERLIFTING. The three basic moves. I doing the Shako routine, the dude from Russia. So does that qualify me for this forum?

Dendy, everyone is welcomed to all forums - no need to qualify. Just come on in, sit down (for the moment!), and be prepared to hurt! :big_smile:-------------- Michael Powerlifters - We eat raw meat, and sleep naked in the snow... |

Thanks, because this powerlifting stuff is quite a challange. I am one of the few woman in the gym lifting such heavy weights, so that's kind of fun, but yea right now everything is a little achy.
My husband is a powerlifter and he his having a blast having ALL the control in the gym, but when we get home well..........I WILL get STRONG and maybe I'll do a meet. The guy who works with us is competitive P.L. and he is guiding our routines. It is fun having something to talk about with the guys at work.(My husband and our friend). Thanks again, Dendy |

Ya, true powerlifting can kinda get some looks going, especially since out here (LV) there really is no real strength training gym - unbelievable enough. Where do you guys go? I'm over at the LVAC on Flamingo.
Best of luck to you! -------------- Michael Powerlifters - We eat raw meat, and sleep naked in the snow... |

============
Quoting from rev8ball: Dendy, everyone is welcomed to all forums - no need to qualify. Just come on in, sit down (for the moment!), and be prepared to hurt! :big_smile: ============= yea, as for the being hurt, I will say the powerlifting forum is probably, how to put this... the least forgiving i guess. Most of the people that post in this forum aren't afraid to speak their mind, especially when it comes to training. I've never heard gator give anything BUT a straight answer. -------------- The Edge... there is no honest way to explain it because the only people who really know where it is are the ones who have gone over. ~~~Hunter S. I am getting stronger, so the guys at work asked me to go with them to the Fit Expo in Feb. to compete in my first PL met. My PR on squats is 270, so is my dead lift, bench not so good, I injured my shoulder awhile back. So how many woman actual compete in powerlifting?
