Hey guys. This isn't the first time I've gotten into lifting, but its the first time I've really gotten my diet on any sort of track.
For starters, I'm 6'1, 230lbs male, 21 years old, coming from a fairly sedentary office job. I've started lifting/swimming/running on a rough schedule now, and I'm on week 2. This last couple days I've gotten myself to 5 meals a day, ~400 calories a meal, mostly coming from oatmeal, lean chicken, apples/oranges, and rice. Here's where the problem starts.
I know I should be eating every 3-4 hours, but I've found that I can have a meal, and in under 2 hours, I'm absolutely starving, and not just "hungry", but the hungry shakes, low bloodsugar kind of hungry.
Is this normal when starting out? Is there anything I should be eating that will put the hunger off for that extra hour or two? I'm drinking water constantly, even more so when I start to feel the hunger pangs, but I just can't shake them.
Any and all advice is more than welcome.
