Hello fellow exercisers,
Surfing the web, I just came acroos this site, and love all the free discussion here about how to better your body. It seems well moderated, and I look forward to reading more into the insights of other people who have common goals.
Speaking of goals, mine is a six pack. It has been for a while (I'm 27), and now that I''ve got most of my partying years behind me (excessive alcohol, late night munchies and such...) I'm ready to get serious about pumping up my body.
I've been going to the gym religiously 5 to 6 times a week, and roaring on the cardio machines, sweating my a** off and feeling pretty proud about myself. Although, I've been reading a lot of the material on this site, which says doing all that cardio could be counter-productive.
I'm now going to try to put a training regement in order that has 3 days of cardio mixed wtih 4 days of heavy lifting (of course there will be a rest day or 2 in there).
Does anyone have any advise straight off the bat for me? I am trying to change my diet, but I live together with my girlfriend who isn't a workout person at all (good genetics!), and I don't want to disrupt our personal life at all by eating 6 times a day and skipping meals with her. So my new plan is just to eat less. This, combined with the new workout schedule works, I hope.
Any other suggestions or ideas?
Thanks,
Justin

Welcome to freetariners Justind123. Try not skipping meals and have them with her.

I agree with carivan 100%. Don't skip meals, and try to get her to eat healthily with you. Just because your girlfriend is skinny doesn't mean that she shouldn't be eating a healthy diet. Skinny people can still have high blood pressure, cholesterol problems and many other health issues when they're older. Be healthy together, it'll be easier that way! Good luck!

You said your goal was to get a six pack... My question for you is, do you already have one hiding underneath excess fat, or are you lean and mean but without the musculature you're looking for? I ask b/c one situation may require eating to lose body fat and the other could require eating to build muscle. But for either, DON'T skip meals!

Thanks for the advise, it's given me the idea that I shouldn't skip meals, but I can eat less at these meals, then find another time to have another small meal in between to get up to 5 or 6 a day.
Wasakat, I think they are already there, but you can get a better guide when my pic gets approved for uploading.

If you think they are already there, the answer is in your diet. For them to show you must be extremely lean. Even if you have 1/4" fat tissue over them it will keep them from showing.
