I am stoked!!
After researching and looking for a used Extreme 2, I finally completed my quest. I picked a used one up today with all the extra power rods and other goodies, fully assembled for $1200.00 (saved about $700.00 versus a new one since shipping wasn't involved).
I did a fine leg routine on it this evening and the smoothness of the machine was amazing! No joint or back pain with squats, a better quality workout and fluid motions made the workout more enjoyable yet still very effective. It general it appears to be VERY well built and quite stable.
I can't wait for shoulder, back, chest and arm days so I can put it through its paces.
In closing I just wanted to share my excitement with somebody (My wife doesn't count as she is currently a couch potato LOL!)

I heard that the rods lose their power after about 9 months of use. & a 10 lb rod is only 10lbs if you get the top to meet the bottom. I had two different stores tell me both of those points - is it true?? one store pointed out a cheaper machine the other a high one

could you let me know?? I also saw an electric one at SAm's - anyone tried one of those??

The amount of resistance definately increases the more the rod is bent. However it gives more resistance at the starting point than one might think.
So far I have done legs, shoulders, back and triceps on it and it has really kicked my butt! The fluid motions of the machine have allowed me to do exercises I could not do before such as squats and deadlifts.
In truth I don't think this would be the machine for you if you want to explode with size but for moderate muscle gains and overall fitness I think it will fit the bill nicely.
5 weeks to go in the mass building program and then results will be posted.

By the way Reddy, I did try the Crossbar Platinum(the electric one). It seems well built but the motions and resistance felt kinda strange to me so I opted for the Bowflex. They sell them at Sears so if you are ever at the store give them a try and see what you think. I would be curious to know if it was just me or if someone else thought the electronic resistance seemed weird.
