...and really not that impressed.
I've only filled in a few fields of general information about my weight and height and somehow I received a "personalized" fitness plan. It was claimed that it is not computer generated but I feel safe to assume it was. Not getting into the specifics, I chose a work-out-at-home, M-W-F routine that incorporates a weight loss and body toning agenda. When I saw the plan (which is carbon-copied for all three days) I thought to myself this is something I could have conceived - and have! Except, if I were to show this to a doctor, I'm positive he would have deemed it unhealthy and quick to put myself in risk of injury. Has anyone had the same experience here or am I the only one second-guessing the "experts." And YES, I'm not in a position to be doing so but I'm just looking out for myself - which is the whole reason I'm here to begin with! I'm willing to put forth the effort and I hope I'm not coming across as stingy and half-hearted but I don't feel completely comfortable with what was put in my path. I would love to hear some stories of similar hesitations and how these were knocked down. Thanks and good luck to everyone... Dave |

Hello, Dave and welcome to FT. I can't say I have been disappointed with anything thus far on FT and have lost 17.5 inches implementing the programs and suggestions of members. The support here is the absolute best I have ever seen - if you are willing to put your all into your goals and work for them. The "experts" you refer to are just that and more, they go the extra mile to share their time and experiences so that we can learn from them rather than fumble around. I'm not sure why your exercises would be deemed unheathly by a doctor, I have found mine to be excellent, but since we don't all have the same I can't elaborate, but I do have total confidence in the people on staff here and gained trust in them by seeing results and hearing their concern for myself and others.
Good luck to you and I hope you find what you are looking for. -------------- Veda MISERY IS OPTIONAL ***When you are up to your ears in trouble, try using the part that is not submerged. ***The difference between a dream and a goal is a plan. HAVE A GREAT DAY! |

Hi Dave. If you're not comfortable with the FT program, you might want to contact one of the moderators or some of the experienced regulars in the forums. They are busy people, but I've noticed that they often go out of their way to help people reach their individual goals. More than likely, they will help formulate a plan that works for you. Fill out your profile with experience level, goals, and a little about yourself, and you'll be on your way. I've never posted before but I also have chosen the weightloss work at home. I think the exercises seem sound although I had confusion at first as I couldn't make out why there were 4 lots to a session. Think I've fathomed that now (I was just a bit thick!) I think the options were limited because we have narrowed it down not having access to weights etc. so limited what we could choose. I personally would have liked the hips & thighs option however realise that this isn't possible without gym equipment so will just have to make do & hope I can do the works with the schedule given.
I was hoping for diet advice, however find it hard filling in the diary all the time as it takes ages. I haven't found any place for suggestions on food. It's doing me good listing all my intake but it takes so long (time I don't have)- makes me think but I'm waning a bit & lapsing from my good intentions. I was dissapointed that I lost loads of weight the first week and then put some back on. Just found out a friend has lost 9 stone & now smaller than me so should feel more determined but instead feel down. I haven't much to loose but it's just annoying not getting into clothes sizes I would like to. Thats my rant for today - don't even know if this will work as I don't know what I'm doing on this. Here goes - I'll submit & see what happens. Fortyhall ============ Quoting from dyurchuk: ...and really not that impressed. If you are looking for suggestions on food, you can go to the forum, "Specific Diets and Nutrition", which is very informative. Each forum has many various postings which you can learn a lot from. You can always put your question in fitBuddy search at the bottom of every page, too, which is very helpful for bringing up any questions you may have. And as mzakal mentioned, you are always able to ask a moderator if you are still having difficulty.
Good luck to you both and hope you are finding the information necessary to help you attain your goals! -------------- Veda MISERY IS OPTIONAL ***When you are up to your ears in trouble, try using the part that is not submerged. ***The difference between a dream and a goal is a plan. The more you put in, the easier it gets if you use the same foods... you don't have to search as much...
