i had just went to the doctor and had a complete physical ready to start a fitness program, then i fell, broke my ulna bone, have been in a cast almost 9 weeks, the bone isn't calcifying properly, and the doc is talking about a bone stimulator, no clue what that is, the cast is taken off every week, x rsyed and put back on, so what can i do? don't need to lose any weight but ANY exercise would help me feel so much better, i walk about 2 miles a day but wouldn't that be just losing more muscle? calf raises, butt exercises(flat one), sitting in a chair exercises, i eat very little meat, i know i need more of something to heal, i have protein powder, eat alot of whole eggs and yogurt, it's depressing being injured and just walking, and btw it's my right forearm thx kj

kj - that is hard, dealing with an injury when you are ready to start a fitness program can be very demotivating.

But - look at it this way - you wil have to be a hero to overcome this and still participtae in a fitness program. The walking is good, you could add in sprints/speed walking intervals when you feel up to it, you shouldn't lose muscle and walking is weight-bearing so it may actually help with your bone density. Exercise alos helps you heal faster because it gets fresh, nutrient rich blood pumping through your system more efficiently.

If you belong to a gym, you could do lower body exercises, even if you don't belong to a gum, you could do squats and lunges with a dumbbell in your good hand, you could also do some exercises with your good hand, there is a ceratin amount of transference, where your right arm will benefit from your left arm lifting weights.

You can work your abs, and glutes, your legs...This should be enough to maintain or even increase your fitness level while you make it through this injury.

Good luck and keep your chin up - this too shall pass.

thx for the reply asimmer, i've started dancing in front of the mirror for my legs, calf raises holding on to the wall and just sitting and trying some isometrics, i have found i can lie on the mat and do some inner thigh exercises, and leg lifts, so my belly does hurt but ok days later
thx again kj
