Hi guys/gals! I'm new to the site of course, and just had a few basic questions about my workout program, and my goals that I'm look to achieve.

Basically, I weigh about 153 and have been at that weight since HighSchool(graduated in 00'). I can't gain weight, even though I've tried. I haven't worked out regularly since HS, and don't have access to a proper gym. What I do have though, is a decent machine here at the house that does a number of different excercises for most of the major parts of the body.

I took a good look at my fitness plan here on the site, or at least what it recommends that I follow. Essentially, my goals are to gain weight, along with muscle mass. I did a lot of toning up in HS, and now 4yrs later I'm left skinny as a twig and rather low on muscle mass. :( I chose my personal fitness plan to work around this, and to improve on the areas that I wanted. Now, I want to work mostly on the arms to start. Specifically, the biceps/triceps. Also, a major concern for me is the chest area. I would like to develop decent pecs (spelling???), which I think can be achieved through benching and a number of exercises. Anyway, those are some of the things that I want to work on.

After taking a look at the plan, I realized that there was hardly any concentration on the biceps/triceps. It was more on the legs/chest. I don't mind that at all, but as I was saying I want to focus mostly on arms to start out. But of course, work on the other parts of the body here and there.

I guess what I'm looking for is what I should do about my particualy fitness plan. What do you, as knowledgeable professionals, think I should change and/or work on during this plan? Can you give me an example of what I shoud be doing during this plan for muscle mass?

I've been looking into my plan carefully the last few days, trying to make sure everything is correct before simply "jumping into" things. This is something I really want to get serious about, and need some good advice!

Sorry about the long post, and I hope I was as clear as I needed to be about my expectations for myself! Any suggestions/comments will be respectfully considered.

Thank you!

Welcome..
being the same age and height, u are a bit on the skinny side, or is it that im heavy.. lol anyways.. id stick to the plan aye, you need to work all aspects of your body. Your body dosnt let you get too disproportionate. If your mainly after arm strenght then make sure you work them well on the days they are allocated too. Once a week is fine for working out your tri's and bi's, they do most of there growing on your rest days.
Anyways im by no means a professional so i should leave it too them!!! Good luck!

If you want to gain weight there are a lot of protein powders and powders to help you gain weight. Sorry I don't know any of the names. Try looking it up on the supplements page on here, and or ask.

I was very skinny when I started as well. I found that the main thing that will help is nutrition. Pump the calories into you but keep the fat intake down.

As for the program seeming to be more intensely training your chest and legs and probably back as well. They do this because they are bigger muscles that take more to work them out, so you will have to do more to get them growing and that way you can stay proportionate. You don't want to overwork them because that will cause them to cannibalize and you will get real lean, but not gain any mass (no fun).

If you are really serious about gaining mass, I would use the programs mass building program and stick to it. Don't deviate from it at all. You will need to get a while into it and see how your muscles are coming in and then decide if you need to tweak anything. In other words, trust in the folks at freetrainers because they do know what they are doing.

As far as supplementation. At the least, get yourself a protein powder. I would get on and cycle creatine usage for a while too. I don't like taking weight gainers personally because they are usually loaded with sugars and stuff. I take www.parrillo.com pro-carb with my protein powder to have a mock-meal.

If you would like more, just email me and I will be happy to try and give you some helpful advise.

I am glad to hear that you are looking to bulk up. I went from 165lbs and am now 206 pounds and am shooting for 220. I wouldn't ever want to be a stick boy again!

Good luck and keep pushing!
