Hi gotashed, this is a great place to do what you are trying to do. The trick is to educate yourself about proper diet and exercise and work it in to your life so that you can stick to it.
Realisticly you can lose about 2 lbs per week safely and in a healthy fashion. You may even be able to lose it a little faster in the beginning.
To do it right, pick one of the routines here and start up gradually. As you progress, revise your goals and keep going. You will have to do a little research here and ask questions. Measure your progress more so wth a tape measure than scales. Muscle weighs more than fat. You may find that you lose weight for a while and then stall weight wise but continue to get smaller in the right places. Muscle also burns more calories than fat so the more muscle you build, the faster you lose fat. Hope this helps.
