Knee ligaments-Ouch!

Hi all,
I have a question about a recent injury i have. Torn medial ligament in my knee. I was wondering if anyone knows the length of time needed to repair such an injury. The dr doesnt think ive completly torn it,but it did make an very loud `snap`sound when it occured and i havent been able to walk without crutches for a bit over a week now(I have an appointment with a specialist on mon). Any information/personal experience about this injury is welcome. Thanks

Thanks for that Yogi. I have since been to the specialist and have been told that i have done my antirior cruciate ligament,medial ligament as well as torn cartilage. I will have to go in for surgery. once again thanks for the feedback.
