I have pain just above and a small amount just below the knee. I have stopped doing lower body work because of this (well, I'm still doing ab work). Lower body work is what I NEED to work on the most and now I'm at a standstill because of my knee. This pain in my knee has come and gone for a few years, ever since I first started working out. I'm assuming that when I first started working out, I did not have correct form during lunges or squats. But why does it flare up now and then?
I did part of a kickboxing video (for cardio) and had to stop since my shins and my knee hurt. (The shin problem is another story...hurts EVERY time I try to do cardio whether it is running, jumping, stepping, etc.) Any ideas or advice are appreciated. Thanks!

The weather could have something to do with flare ups. If you have scar tissue in your knee from any type of damage several things could contribute to flare ups. I hurt my knew in a car wreck and have this problem often. Other causes for me, doing lunges and squats with over 30 lbs and the day after wearing heels.
I'm going back to the doctor next week, as I had to leave aerobics last week due to a flare up. I'll let you know if he gives me useful advice.

You do lunges with 30 lbs? Yikes! I think I've only been able to do them with 20 lbs at the most. Well, my knee is feeling better, but I know it will flare up again. I think wearing a knee support thingy during workouts has helped.
Thanks for replying!

You may want to look into Celadrin.
