Hi! Just wondering. I heard l-carnitine helps you to burn fat. But being an amino acid, will it make your muscles bigger as a result? I want to lose muscle mass at my calf area. I do alot of running too so i suppose i burn alot of fat. But will running alot and taking l carnitine at the same time cause my calf muscles to become very large?

L-Carmitine isn’t technically an amino acid in that it isn’t used as a neurotransmitter, or in protein synthesis. L-Carmitine is basically just a vessel that carries strains of fatty acids to the mitochondria in your cells, where they are burned for energy. It is generally found that people who take L-Carmitine will develop muscle mass faster then people who do not. If you keep training your calves you will see increasing growth, just like you will by exercising any other muscle in your body. Supposedly L-Carmitine is a muscle enhancer, so based on that theory it will increase the size of your calves.
