Im starting to take L-Glutamine...it's 2g's (I take 2 tablets a day)

I workout 4-5 times a week (working different muscles)

anways, I was wondering if I should take the glutamine tablets everyday, or just the days that I work out?
Would taking it everyday make a benefit or a difference than just taking it the days I work out?
thanks

Think of Glutamine as protein; you wouldn't skip protein on off days now would ya? You'll benefit from it on a consistant basis. Two grams doesn't seem that much but since you're starting off, I guess you gotta start somewhere.
Happy go training.

Proteins have two basic layers to there structure, they comprise of long chains of amino acids held together in a specific 3D structure. When you eat protein it gets broken down into these amino acids during digestion your body is then free to reassemble them, as it wants. There a little over 20 basic amino acids, about three quarters of which are nonessential (so can be synthesised within the body from other stuff) and the remainder are essential (need to be taken directly).

Manufactures label each amino acid with a set of metabolic functions that they are involved in. However these amino acids are needed to do these actions, they do not cause them. Just like marketing sugar by telling you it is used in the process of lifting heavy weights, this is true but eating sugar will not make you lift heavy weights.

All L-Glutamine is a specific amino acid, as it happens it is a nonessential amino acid commonly associated with certain metabolic processes including supplying energy to the brain and fatigue reduction. However it will not make you smarter or train longer. So why you ask are they available, this is for two reasons. Firstly bodybuilders eating a very rigorous diet have such controlled intakes they need to balance every last gram of amino acid (or at least believe they do), for example before competition.1g of protein contains roughly he same calories as 1g of carbs, and will be used as energy or stored as fat if it is not needed for muscle growth. However the main reason is to make money, careful advertising and telling people the functions associated with each amino acid is big business.

Getting to your question – yes take it every day, no there will be no difference and when your current supplies dry up I would not bother replenishing them – especially at your age just eat healthy. There is a lot of misinformation out there; I did the same a few years back with … I think it was l-cartine? My advice, don’t get sucked in to there marketing just eat healthy.

I think 5-10g is the dosage you're supposed to hit with glutamine. Tablets? I didn't even know glutamine was available in tablets. Hmph. Show's how much I know.
