Having bigger muscles doesn't necessarily mean you're strong. Look at Bruce Lee; he was bad and could kill like anybody, but he wasn't that big, he just had crazy strength and POWERFUL muscles. Power is the key if you want to greatly improve your vertical and your overall game. Don't worry about when people call you weak, because if you work hard, you'll show them up someday.

to improve your vertical leap you'll be doing different exercises/reps than to gain mass.....because it has to do more with strength/power of your muscles....Guy at my gym...he's 5'10 and is probably no more than 150....he has a vertical of around 45 inches(white guy also...if you can believe it)....he's so powerful that I couldn't block him out when match up against him...and I am taller/heavier/stronger than him....but he can explode a lot faster....the force that he produces is overwhelming...he does standstill turn arounds on the block under the rim...getting about 30 inches on his Jumpshot....it's rediculous...

to improve vertical search the Powerlifting/Strength Tread....

you'll be doing exercises like Cleans/Jump Squats/Snatches and working with heavier reps doing 1-5 range...but I suggest you build up some mass/strength before doing it...and give yourself a couple of years...it's very demanding...and weights are very heavy..you're still growing...

Why are there so many posts for people wanting to build their chests in the powerlifting forum. that should be reserved for the bodybuilding forum. As for the vertical leap question, there are lots of posts on that, just run a search. Arondaballer and gatormade are the experts on that topic.

To mistake power training for training for massive muscular size is one of the biggest and greatest mistake that an aspiring young trainee can make, because it does not enable him to reach a physical advancement in any class or movement.
