How do I go about loosing those last 10 pounds. I have a great exercise program going for me and I eat healthy Monday through Friday and I eat 5 times a day. I have 10 more to lose and I feel like I have hit some sort of plateau and it is quite discouraging. Other than eating maybe only 3 times a day I cannot seem to find any other way to lose the excess weight. |

Eat more often (smaller meals) cut back on the carbs and fat. Makeup those calories from protien. That last 10 is like being stuck in the snow! Perhaps you might want to add in some interval training. -------------- Nothing is too small to know, and nothing is too big to attempt! Ivan Montreal Canada |

Cycle the carbs..... Some days with very low carb intake and other day you'll eat more carbs. Keep your protein intake high and eat enough good fat. Good luck! -------------- - Nina :o) Les Victoires éternelles sont celles du coeur. |

This is exactly what I have been doing. I am eating way more protein (fish, bars, tuna) and I am still not seeming to have any change. My measurements aren't even going down. What would you consider good fat? |

yes as ravenwolf said mon-fri is good, but sat and sun also need to be good. also if you drink soda etc that is something you will for sure want to cut out. personally I always found jogging/running with my workout to be a great way to get my weight under control again too. I am sure there are many cardio things you could do at your gym. Another one is like a cross country ski cardio machine. GREAT workout and low impact on joints. I think with fat/weight loss cardio plays an important roll. along with a good diet. |

Good fat is all mono and poly insaturated fat (including omega 3, 6 and 9).Like fish oil, olives, avocados, nuts...... Choose a food and do a search at http://www.nal.usda.gov/fnic/cgi-bin/nut_search.pl Here you'll get all the infos! -------------- - Nina :o) Les Victoires éternelles sont celles du coeur. |

I try so hard to discipline myself during the week and I tend to let myself have what I would like on the weekends. Life is too short to give up everything that I like to eat. I incorporate cardio big time into my workout. Basically I do cardio every other day and weights on the other days. I am a big fan of kickboxing and I would love to do it every day if it would benefit me but I know that kickboxing alone isn't good. I have also taken up bellydancing lessons. I exercise more than anyone I know besides my husband and I am just so frustrated with being stuck at this weight. I was always the skinniest person growing up. I am 25 now, 5'5" and 124 pounds. To me I see some cellulite and I am not happy with it. Other than never picking up a piece of chocolate I am not sure what else I can other than pitch a tent at the pitch and live there. |

correct me if i am wrong lucyladybug, but 124 lbs for 5'5" is already underweight. that is the average weight of a 5'2". Seems to me you have to sacrifice a little more and change some of your food habits. as far as losing the last ten lbs girl, you are there and then some.-------------- Bettia.... I appreciate the positive words. My mindframe is stuck though back when I used to be a dancer and had little bodyfat. It wasn't unhealthy at all becuase that is just who I was.So now I am having a hard time with the reality check that I put on weight. I am determined to be the weight that I used to be. |

Dear Intruder,That is exactly what I am focusing on. I feel horrible and lumping and I want to feel better about myself. I tend to hide how I look with loose clothing so that helps me feel better but I don't want to be like that. I am finding that eating 5 times a day is actually making me more hungry. Is this normal? |

You only have to believe in your self, you will find a way."Tell me what your doing now for you daily work-outs". Its realy just a matter of self assessment, re-evaluation, and making new short term goals. Dont worry-you will get there. -------------- "Get everthing you want--just make a little change now" |

I think my negative attitude is really not helping me out at all. This past summer I was spending a lot of time fixing up my house and I dropped about 5 pounds which is more where I would like to be weight-wise but that is not a reality. I cannot work that hard for the rest of my life. So this is hard for me to find a happy medium. It is going to a take a lot of work. |

I just cannot imagine doing what I am doing now for the rest of my life. Once I settle down and start having children it is going to be really hard. I am so afraid of having the muscle that I have for fear of when I stop exercising as much as I am that the muscle is just going to turn to fat and then cellulite. |

sorry to be so blunt about this but i have to say it. I can hold it in any longer. just get over it! if you want to really get into shape then you will do it and stay in shape. quit worrying about what will happen later. It seems to me that you really haven't made a full blown commitment with yourself. You see, fitness is a way of life, not a 8 week diet and then blow it all to hell. You really need to see what it is that you want and then go for it. Again, I am sorry to be so blunt, but sometimes, you just have to tell it like it is. good luck -------------- Bettia.... Actually I have made a "full blown commitment." I have a medical condition called PCOS that is making it very hard for me to loose weight. Sometimes telling it like it is just won't do the trick. Medical intervention may be necessary for me. |

My wife has that and not only does it make it hard for you to loose weight it makes it very hard to have children go to the doctor and get checked out big time and ask about metforman (missspelled but that is how it sounds) My wife was on it for that and lost 35 lbs-------------- IF YOU CAN STILL ITCH YOUR NOSE AFTER ARM DAY, GO DO ANOTHER SET!!! |

Thank you 7707mutt for your support. It can be quite discouraging to have someone tell you like it is when in reality a medical condition can seriously effect weightloss and also weightgain. I am in the process of get treated and have tried many medications. But I will just continue to keep plugging away at what I am doing to loose weight. |

In the defense of the posters, lucyladybug, it's a good idea to tell the whole story when asking for advice. Medical conditions are definitely a part of that - especially for this topic. Plus you also get more relevant answers - like the help from mutt :) My roommate was getting tested for PCOS. It turns out she doesn't have it and bcp's helped get rid of the symptoms. Regardless, I read about it a little. It seems like a pretty rough condition sometimes. Take care! |

I really shouldn't have to tell my personal medical condition on this website to defend myself. I am on this site for support and some people should honestly ask questions before "telling it like it is." One cannot just assume that I am not making being fit a part of my life without asking what else may be going on. Kirby00, what does bcp's stand for? |

Wow the ladybug gots some teeth! LOL easy lady bug well all want to help, and i know that ravenbeauty meant that as a motivational tool not to acuse you of not trying. Sometimes we all need that extra "kick" in the butt ya know. I know somewhat you are going thru. Obviously I am not a woman so I can not truly know, but it still is hard to go thru I saw what my wife went thru. There is a website that deals with pregency issues and there are many there with pcos it is called fertile thoughts. You might wanna go there and just look to see what they offer. |

after careful thought from reading this total thread. first off i'd like to say, this community is very important to me, it has become an important part of my everyday life as well as the people on here. ihave made good friends and have been able to help so many people out, what i say is in no way being judgemental or negative in anyway whatsoever. if someone happens to take it that way, i am sad to hear that. ladybug, after you posting about your condition on here, it changed things quite a bit, but before that, it was obvious it was exuse after excuse as to why you couldn't do what you wanted. believe you weren't the first one there and you aren't the last. it does get frustrating at times when no matter what advice is given, people just won't heed the words of knowledge, and i will be the first one to admit of doing the same thing. i am here to help and you can believe me that it is totally genuine. and sometimes you might here things you don't like, but still yet, they are true and you have to just bite your tongue and be abig enough person to admit, hey i do need to do that. i have had to do that a numerous amount of times.on your condition, yes it is more of a challenge to keep in shape because of so, but there are so many people on here with roadblocks all along the way as well. i was in your shoes once, only suffering with hypothyroidism. it caused me to gain an extensive amount of weight, which i never had before and is something that i have to take medication for the rest of my life with. this typical situation as many of those on here can account for me makes it twice as hard to stay in shape then it would a normal healthy human being. still i push on and go forward, i am constantly kicking myself in the ass to keep going, but when i see the results it is so well. you can do this, anyone can when they put their minds to it. there is nothing that can stand in the way of oneself's goals but themselves. you can take the post i made two ways... 1. take it as an insult (which it was not intended that way) and keep making sarcastic remarks about it because you are holding a grudge. or.. 2. take it in a positive manner (in which it was inteneded for) and apply it to your life. when you feel like giving up, read it again and again and push yourself to keep going. i really hope you will choose the latter way to take it. i wish there was really someone there to kick me in the butt and keep me going then i wouldn't be as far back as i am now. but no matter what, people can encourage you, help you, teach you, as we all including myself love to do on here, it won't make a difference unless you apply it to your life. i wish you the best of luck with your fitness goals and your condition as well. please give us an update and let us know how it is going. the meanie. :) -------------- Bettia.... My 2 cents. Muscle doesn't "turn into fat." muscle burns calories...if you stop working out and watching what you eat you will lose muscle tone (which lowers your metabolism) and you will, if you consume more calories than you burn, put on fat. But MUSCLE CANNOT "TURN INTO FAT." So don't worry about that--putting on muscle is the best thing you can do to prevent weight gain. 2) at 5'5" and 124 you are pretty thin. Maybe you don't feel that way, but maybe your perception and reality don't match up. have you done a body fat test? that might be a better way of assessing fitness. Also, being too thin is going to harm your health more--I used to be obsessed with getting to 100 lbs (at 5.2")--i finally did it, but lost my periods for 7 years, started losing hair, and developed hypothyroidism. No one ever told me I was getting too thin because I started to look like the dancer that I was (took ballet for 16 years and always felt huge...dancers dont' have realistic body images as you probably know!). So, I'm trying to be supportive but also wary that you might be compromising yourself healthwise-- 3) I was originally diagnosed with PCOS when I didn't get my periods for ages--turns out they were wrong, but it is a very difficult disease. I wish you luck with it. From what I hear the metformin helps, and of course, exercise, eating healthily. good luck with it! |

I appreciate everyone's concern and I thank everyone for their support. I wouldn't continue to read these messages if I thought that someone was trying to give me an insult or anything. And as for being accused making sarcastic remarks, I have to defend myself and state that I was not making sarcastic remarks. I was responding to an email that should not really have been sent without first finding out what is going on beside my admitting that I eat what I want on weekends.I do realize that I am at an average weight for myself but my body still is not want it can potentially be. I have stretch marks and cellulite which do need to be taken seriously. If I was too skiiny I would not really have the cellulite. Unless I am misinformed. I may be mistaken. I am very hard worker at everything I do in life and especially with taking care of myself. It is frustrating to me because I do not see a change and I have been doing this for many many years and I do not see it as a 2 week diet that I just abandon after I see results. I can to this website for positive support and I really do hope that is what I can find. |

7707mutt. I want to thank you for the advice of checking out that website. It was very hard for me to post that I have pcos, it is not a thing that I like to talk about and I never wanted it brought up on this partically website. ( I admitted it out of defense for myself). That is what my pcos site is for. But I appreciate that you understand this condition since your wife has it. I hope she is doing well and it is great that you are a support for her also. |
