1/4 rep night it seems. I saw more people doing exercises with 1/4 the depth needed to complete the rep/ Everything from squats to curls was done like that. And they all pranced around the place like male peacocks trying to impress the female. It is no wonder the guy doing the curls has thin arms. Or that the guy doing squats, with a belt in the smith machine complains his knees hurt and has skinny legs so he wears pants all year long.
Studies have shown that the shear stress is greater on knees at parallel or higher, in fact the lower you go the better on the knees. Also you are not activating the muscle totaly by doing reps like that at all.....not to mention looking like a noob all the time! -------------- FOR MY WIFE: Her little ring was a little thing but it was all that i could afford now shes mine all mine till the day i die and i never wanted nothing more 7707mutt@freetrainers.com |

I will say that there is a decisive lack of focus and intensity in my gym for the most part. HOWEVER, I don't necessarily think it's because of laziness, but moreover that people just are lacking the knowledge of proper weight training. It's funny to think that a person would never change a plumbing or electrical fitting without at least learning how to do it, but when it comes to the gym there is a common belief that you're born into knowing how to do things.
Then when people don't see results they quit. What makes it equally worse is that the same gyms are offering overpriced personal training, with ineffective staff that just take people through the motions. Oh well, this is the world we live in I guess.... |

last workout I did DL and right after my warm up of 225x5 this guy comes up with two mats and tells me I am too "loud" and proceeds to place them under the barbell...he is a "employee" there. I just let it go. Pissed me off threw off my timing as I was just about to go onto my next set, as well as the fact the mats raised the bar a couple of inches....I am not going back to that Y I think to many rules that are not at my Y go figure that.-------------- FOR MY WIFE: Her little ring was a little thing but it was all that i could afford now shes mine all mine till the day i die and i never wanted nothing more 7707mutt@freetrainers.com |

Geez, heaven forbid the weights make a little noise in a GYM! The ones that bug me are the guys who drop the weights from like 2'+ just to let everyone know they have a 45 pound dumbbell press.

Why all the noise? Maybe the weight is too heavy for you Scott.
